I always looking forward to cook something special for Kian. I use the term ‘always’ very loosely at this stage because I’m very busy with bits and pieces from here and there.
Work is stressful, don’t know why. I work ~6.5 days a week. Practically 9-5 kinda thing. I use 2-3 nights for swimming. Few nights for necessary reading. Meetings. Etc Etc.
So, when I come to preparing dinner, I like something creative, tasty. Most important, not much dishes to do at the end — erm, I’m looking at 2 plates. That’s it.

I decided to make chicken kebab with white rice.
Instead of whacking the white rice next to the kebab, I used a teacup as a mould, shaping a nice and cute cuppa rice.
Abit of spring onion on top to make it look ’sexier’

The main course is the Kebab.
Chicken, onion and capsicum — all satay-ed with bamboo stick.
Chicken breast was cut and marinated in light soya sauce and Japanese rice wine.

The chicken tasted very nice. They were gently infussed with flavour from onion and capsicum. I’m impressed.
I foreseen myself using more capsicum in my cooking thesedays. Yay! Bring more pepper bells.

p/s: I’ve been using quite a far bit of eggplants in my cooking thesedays. Can anyone please tell me how you ‘do’ your eg plants please?? I *heart* eggplants. heaps.

I was trying to read through at least 300pages of AMH (Australian Medicine Handbook) everynight by Friday.
I still have APF (Australian Pharmacy Formulary) to go thru’ — as thick as grandma’s favourite poo paper brand, Kleenax.
Bugga.
AMH is hypnotic… very very sedating, indeed.
Too much ‘drugs’ , eh?

Me and Kian decided to stay in for lunch. It is quite hectic sometimes to join the crowd for typical Oriental lunch–dim sum. If we rock up at those dim sum place after 12-ish in the arvo, there is nothing much left for us to choose from beside the usual stuffs like ‘har kaw’ (prawn dumpling) and siew mai (pork dumpling).
If we rock up early…Ok, this is not possible. Neither of us is motivated enough to get up from the warm, comfy blanket. We blaim the weather when we can’t get up, heh?

So, what’s on the plate?

Lightly toast Turkish bread, buttered and topped with Gordon Ramsay’s stylo scrumble eggs, garnished with alfalfa sprouts.
I don’t need Sunday paper to make a perfect Sunday morning cos’ I can always go with Clarkson and May

Back at long time ago, his sister and mom bought him some cooking books. He rarely use them at all. Then, he proceeds his cooking to higher level — he brings the laptop into the kitchen. He reads the receipe, and then cooks for abit here and there.

Now, I must say he is at his highest peak (interest) at cooking.

If you are wondering how to make your man to work in the kitchen. The answer is:
TAH DAHHHHH!!!

Kian got himself a full-set of cooking ‘thing’ for Nintendo DS Lite which I bought him for birthday pressie sometimes ago. How cool is that?

The receipes feature almost ALL the dishes from ALL OVER THE WORLD. You name it, from East, South, West and North of the globe. It shows step-by-step cooking method, very very easy for beginner. And it is super awesome!!!

I enjoy the taste, mushroom, coriander and bamboo shoots. The down side is smell of the bamboo shoots are abit overpowering.
Overall, I give his Tom Yum 7/10.
Keep the cooking coming!

Kian suggested to me that we should go down to market to get some fresh grocery in Sunday arvo.
I thought, well.. It was a great idea as we haven’t been to any markets for a long time. Long time as in.. more than 1 year?

I was quite excited about the whole FRESH food. Turn out, I was abit disappointed.
The mandarins were rotten on the outside. The bananas were severely and badly oxydised. The lemons were overproced.

As I walking among the people, I was feeling rather nervous, and slightly breathless. p/s: I now remember market doesn’t sell fresh air, too.

I wasn’t worried people nicking my wallet, or hitting me from behind, or the vege stall employee giving me the evil-look for choosing my winter melon for long time….

All I care was, please you people! Do NOT step on my pretty shoes!! They are my favourite colours!!!

and Unagi Don night.

So, I’ve been coughing my lungs out. I can feel that I’m coming down with something. The cough is dry, and slight acidic. Erm, some sort of reflux, eh? Few doses of PPI are doing me good for now, but not my motivation.

A colleage from my workplace organised a fairwell dinner at one of restaurant close to one of my workplaces. I told her I wasn’t able to make it. The cough, cold, motivation blah blah blah. Meantime, Kian puts my name down to have fancy dinner at The Left Bank. I was first very excited. But I realised I don’t get excited enough to go. I rang him from work, while still coughing my lungs out… he was slightly disappointed but understood.

I came home. I was thinking of heating up my let over fried rice..probably boil some soup to go. And..and… and.. I had all things planned and organised. And all I wanted is a quite night. No mobile, no messages. No phone. No TV.

As soon as I walked into the house, the light was on. Erm.. what’s going on? I saw a pack of take-away on my desk.
I saw the Unagi Don. It was Kian who bought it from the local Japanese eating place. He drove all the way back for me, and before he went back up to Freo again.
I was washing my face with my tears. Oh! He is such a sweetheart!

I had one of those days — anti-socialism. All I wanted is no (extra) questions asked, no (extra) task *.* so I can have some room to cough my lungs out
Thank you very much.

yeah, I know.. one of those days.

It is Diabetes Week this week. And at my workplace, we organised ‘Don’t Ignore Diabetes’ Campaign. This campaign was launched since July 2005.
I was quite excited with this activity at work. You know.. the whole display, a little bit of design, and most importantly — getting out from the dispensary and do something (more) exciting!

I was asked to design a poster 2 days before the campaign begun.. gosh! I wasn’t inspired at all. I can’t think artistically under pressure like this. So, I called Keegan to get one done. And guess what? Keegan did it in less than 10 minutes time. How awesome is ME? — One phone call, and all done. Of course, Keegan is more awesome in this case Many thanks, Keegan.

I was excited about the uniform sponsored by Diabetes WA and Abbott. It was awesomely blue! You know, for one week, 5 days, I don’t have to wear my granny-like uniform to work. G… my uniform is getting tighter and tighter. Not impressed at all.

Before the start of the campaign, I was told to read and understand my work well. You know.. like a nerd. I have to understand all the answers before I got the questions from the public. So yeah, pretty much everything. We were told how to read the nutrition label well. Example, you are recommended to have less than 10% of glucose (sugar) in each serve of meal. 10% can be few milligram.. or in some case, 6 bloody gram!
Once everyone was told how to read the nutrition labels.. ppl start getting very cautious. In my opinion, they are rather frightening. “uh! gosh! I’m not eating that!” “G! That’s alot of sugar” Erm, why they only got terrified by now?

Come on, people! Thay are food! They are high GI .. but they are food! They aint joker from The Dark Knight!! They aint your face without make-up! for pig’ sake.

Clearly, I’m not the best candidate for this sorta campaign.

I personally think Diabetes is somewhat scary, if you don’t manage well. You know.. the eye problems, amputated leg. Eww

But hey, moderation is the way to go. You have to enjoy your food! I must confess, I’m not that sort person would completely cut myself off from chocolate, Oreo, peanut butter etc etc…when I was told that eating peanut butter and chocolate are another form of catching cancer, oh dear, I just can’t help to help myself with 6 pieces of chocolate. Hey, Life is freaking short, mann!

and you know what? It is awesome!

p/s: Anyway, ignore my PMS-rant, please. We all should eat healthily and ‘Find 30′ everyday for a better life, right?

Woohoo! I had my 15th blood donation this morning. And I’m feeling awesome!

My missed my appointment on Monday at Red Cross Carousel ’cause I had to pick Kian up from work. Tsk tsk tsk.
Red Cross rang me yesterday, and kindly to fit me in today at City Red Cross. How cool is that?

As usual, I’m a good ‘bleeder’ — eh, that’s the term used among the nurses who work at Red Cross.
This time, I managed to bleed 470mL just under 7minutes. I could have done better than this if I drink alot more water. Oh well, it’s Winter.. honestly, who will drink plenty of chilly water in a chilly Winter morning?

I met a new nurse who just started working at Blood Bank fornot long ago. I just knew something was going wrong - she didn’t poke the needle deep enough into my vein. So yeah, the needle was probably sitting very close to the nerve ending, and it was killing me!! At that time, SEVEN minutes seem like a freaking ages!
Anyway, I smiled at her, telling her for all the good work. But, she could ‘poke’ the needle abit deeper.
I tried to stay calm and put up a ‘pain-less’ facial expression. I figure it out, we all were new/young once. We have to start somewhere. I was given plenty of oppurtunities in my life, and I shall do the same for the others as well. Right?

On my way to my car, I decided to do a Karen Cheng. Eeeep.

Apparently, Red Cross is running some campaign for the local AFL teams — either you pick the Dockers (purple) or the Eagles (yellow).

My option is pretty obvious if you manage to spot the colour compression bandage on my right arm.

Cool eh?

I’m just feeling a little bit too stressed at the mo. With all the portfolio fink, exam in 4 weeks time. *holy cow!* — I haven’t even done much about it.

Seriously, what I’ve been doing all these times? sigh

I’m trying to catch up as much as I can. Gosh, you know, even to get the motivation ups is just sooo difficult.

So, procrastination leads me (and tummy) to Kraft Crunchy Peanut Butter — The ultimate comfort food.

I have peanut butter on toast, biskies and celery. I try to convice myself celery is part of the healty food. So yeah, with the awesomeness from both hell and heaven, I won’t feel that bad to certain extend, right?

OK. I lie. I don’t dip celery in peanut butter.
I “dip” a metal spoon and scoop up the peanut butter… one spoonful, another spponful..and another one.

So insane, so wrong, yet so awesome!!!

p/s: what’s your favourite comfort food? Come on, tell me! I’m sure you got one too!
