Oh well, geek has to do what geek HAS to do, right?
It is Diabetes Week this week. And at my workplace, we organised ‘Don’t Ignore Diabetes’ Campaign. This campaign was launched since July 2005.
I was quite excited with this activity at work. You know.. the whole display, a little bit of design, and most importantly — getting out from the dispensary and do something (more) exciting!

I was asked to design a poster 2 days before the campaign begun.. gosh! I wasn’t inspired at all. I can’t think artistically under pressure like this. So, I called Keegan to get one done. And guess what? Keegan did it in less than 10 minutes time. How awesome is ME? — One phone call, and all done.
Of course, Keegan is more awesome in this case
Many thanks, Keegan.

I was excited about the uniform sponsored by Diabetes WA and Abbott. It was awesomely blue! You know, for one week, 5 days, I don’t have to wear my granny-like uniform to work. G… my uniform is getting tighter and tighter. Not impressed at all.
Before the start of the campaign, I was told to read and understand my work well. You know.. like a nerd. I have to understand all the answers before I got the questions from the public. So yeah, pretty much everything. We were told how to read the nutrition label well. Example, you are recommended to have less than 10% of glucose (sugar) in each serve of meal. 10% can be few milligram.. or in some case, 6 bloody gram!
Once everyone was told how to read the nutrition labels.. ppl start getting very cautious. In my opinion, they are rather frightening. “uh! gosh! I’m not eating that!” “G! That’s alot of sugar” Erm, why they only got terrified by now?
Come on, people! Thay are food! They are high GI .. but they are food! They aint joker from The Dark Knight!! They aint your face without make-up! for pig’ sake.

Clearly, I’m not the best candidate for this sorta campaign.
I personally think Diabetes is somewhat scary, if you don’t manage well. You know.. the eye problems, amputated leg. Eww
But hey, moderation is the way to go. You have to enjoy your food! I must confess, I’m not that sort person would completely cut myself off from chocolate, Oreo, peanut butter etc etc…when I was told that eating peanut butter and chocolate are another form of catching cancer, oh dear, I just can’t help to help myself with 6 pieces of chocolate. Hey, Life is freaking short, mann!
and you know what? It is awesome!
p/s: Anyway, ignore my PMS-rant, please. We all should eat healthily and ‘Find 30′ everyday for a better life, right?
WOW! I can’t believe it is JUNE already. Time goes really quickly, issit?
Me and Kian went out for dinner the other night at Red Herring, Fremantle. I kept this plan from Kian because he had Viva Voce** last week. I thought, erm.. bugga it off. No matter he get thru or not, I somehow still want to do something special for him for all his hard work.
**Viva Voce is like a registration ‘thing’ for being a licensed pharmacist. If you want to put it in that way

Blah blah blah..
The food is pretty average. Kian ordered a platter of BBQ seafood. Turn out, the BBQ = DEEP FRIED. Oh! And it wasn’t even good at all. It was bland. The oil wasn’t hot enough. The coating is hard.

The steak. Nuff said. Very average.

Anyway, the food wasn’t the point. I wanted to make sure our night didn’t get ruined by all other reasons. So, I managed to make the entire evening abit more exciting!
Again, I’ve already organised this surprise 2 weeks ago. Kian thought I went out for some Congress business. *ngek*

Shuddup, you! It is not a ring lah. In case you are wondering. Im not desperate at all.

It is a stamp!!

It is a stamp for Kian. He passed his Viva Voce!
Yes, I went down to local Officeworks the other day to get him a stamp. Cheecky me. Oh well, I thought this is something very useful. Probably better than a ring?
He is going to use it most of the time at work now. WOW! How exciting?
MPS= Member of Pharmaceutical Society; CD = Comission of Declaration
Wondering when is moin turn? *deep breath*
NO. It wasn’t my wedding.
In case you think my very good news come so quickly.

I attended Kian’s cousin wedding last Saturday. It was very lovely. We sat with almost whole table of pharmacists. One from other profession, and two solicitors. Interesting conversation going around the full course lunch.

We didn’t get to do the ‘yum-seng’ thing. The couple was abit shy, I must say. Plus. I think our table is more youthful. The rest, erm..musta few generations older than us.
I couldn’t help thinking: why no ‘yum-seng’? we are Chinese after all, ya?
*too much adrenaline in me*

I was talking to my good friend who is currently living in Taiwan. You know, how we are going to ’swap’ our children in the future. I am sending my kid(s) to Taiwan, so he/she can live with her and learn Chinese/Mandarin. On the other hand, she will send hers to Aussie to learn the Western (healthy) culture. The thing is, we both not even marry yet. Ha!
One more thing, when I look at the photo, I must admit, smart people have bigger/wider forehead. Clearly, I don’t.

Happy 7th anniversary to us!

Whenever I told my friends, we celebrate our 7th anni this year, they all were like : whoa! whooooA!
Honestly, I still feel like I just fallen in love with Kian yesterday.

Remember when my parents were here in Town? Kian actually asked my dad if he could marry me. Yes larrr. That WAS the question. BUT, he has NOT pop the question to me yet. My brother called me right after my parents arrived, he said: eh! Your man got gut! He didn’t even ask mummy. He went straight off to my daddy.

I know it is a matter of time. Time is our friend. I don’t really care about the wedding ceremony, that whole Chinese big dinner ‘thing’. If this is going to happen, a traditional tea ceremony for the elderly I guess that will do. I am not a big fan of that whole big YUM-SENG thing after all.

My mum, on the other hand, is slightly different. She said: aiyah.. simple simple.. 20 tables for the relatives for my side, can already.
WHAT? did you see that? TWENTY ! =.='’ You see, Teow Chew ppl can freak me out. A little.

Dad is cool with my idea for keeping things low profile. I suggested to my dad, why don’t he ‘focus’ on my brother, instead of me?

I don’t see a big wedding in the future, but I’ve started gathering a few wedding photographers for myself. I told friends who are good at photography, ‘eh! if, IF lar… this really happen ar, can you take my wedding photos?”

Yeah lah.. can you please? Take my wedding photos for me? please? *insert puppy eyes*
7th year is another beginning..I hope things will get better and better. More awesomeness, please! Yay!
Happy Belated Easter, people!
Sorry larr. This is sooo late.
I hope you all had a great time. Long weekend + Easter eggs.
I’ve been consuming plenty of Easter chocolate eggs. Fantastic!

Chocolate is yumm. It makes me feel sooo GOOD. I believe it enhances my endorphine level at some point.
Just like s*x. Oh-so-good.
I feel awkfully regret for having too much chocolate intake. Too much sugar and fat.
somehow, I don’t feel in this way when I have s*x
Oh well, I think there is somewhat slight differece(s) between chocolate and s*x.
wundah, wundah, wundah.
It was sometimes ago, I found this restaurant from a blog review.
I personally not a very huge fan of buffet, I believe a tasteful dinner comes from succulent flavour, not the quantity itself.
One of the weeknights, we decided to head down to Shimizu Grand at Floreat Forum.
Some foodie’ photos first, ya?
Round ONE:
(A little bit of everything to try first)
Clock wise:

Round TWO:
clock wise:
raw salmon: yes.. you can pretty much tell that there isn’t much awesomeness served on the table.
pickle: commercially available everywhere, not something that will amaze you.
random salad 1: I paid 38 bucks, I must at least try that.. for a tiny bit
random salad 2: comment same as above
raw beef: 2-3 slices are the max, but I just had one.

The only reason I like about the food is raw salmon. If you are salmon person, you might as well buy a chunk from Coles, and slice it off yourself at home.

I’ve never been a fan of jellyfish, but ever since I got stung by stingers, I am very, very, very determined to eat jellyfish whenever I go for Japanese. Damn you, jellyfish! The rash flared up few days ago.. and they are still fairly reddish and itchy.

Tempura: poorly done.

Beef: hard as rock. The slice garlic was overfried, leaving a after pungent bitter taste.

Squid balls: where is the squid? yep! very classic! they only give you a tiny tiny bit of squid, whereas the flour was obviously overpowering.

Japaneses noodle: I felt like they got this straight from the packaging. The texture of noodle is smooth; the brooth.. ordinary.

I personally think the owner put too much effort into the restaurant design. The ambient was good. Perfect for dating, group meeting.
But the owner musta forget to apply some passion, energy and effort into the food.
The hot food was very very disappointed too. They look more than the less like those cheapo Chinese buffet. and again, pretty tastleless.

And speaking of variation, I can understand there were only 2 choices of cakes.. but again, back to hot food. G! You don’t expect the amount of money you paid for for this kind of buffet.

So, I decided to come out with some top tips.
1. NO! You don’t pay 35. You will pay 38 bucks now. Price has gone up, just like the fuel. bloody hell.
2. NO! You don’t get their iconic chopsticks either.
3. NO! absolutely not worthy.
4. NO! You won’t even think of going there.for once.
p/s: despite the food wasn’t that great, I still had a lovely night out with Kian. At the end, Kian made the night pretty much, very tasteful.
Last year was Kian’s.. This year is mine.
Honestly, I was so over the graduation mood long time ago. Erm, let’s see, long way before when I completed my final paper? I personally think, the purpose of the ceremony is to keep the folks entertained.
Ya know, like my chinese parents, who work their ass off thru’out the years, and save the money so damn hard so I can get a Degree. Therefore, entertainment is brought to them by the uni, keeping the ‘customers’ happy, ensuring their money is well spend. At the end of the day, hopefully they forget all the blood-sweat money making moment.

My parents are in Town at the moment. Thank Buddha, Perth is having such a fabulous weather this week, otherwise I am pretty sure my dad will hate Perth.
Kian is the primary camera-man for the whole night. He has been using David’s camera. Meanwhile, he got me another new toyboy - IXUS 74. Pre-birthday pressie. wOOt.
I wore a not very parental-friendly dress. Er, I mean.. my cups were like.. er, flowing nicely. sweet. Hehehe.

The V.I.P in my life –(from left) nana, mummy and daddy. Endless of thanks. Of course, Kian, my ney. You are everything.

Aunty Verna is another V.I.P — my soulmate, my girlfriend, my mom.
She gave me a bouquet of sunflower!!! Yes! My favourite flower!!! Sunny and Happy! So awesome!!

Some other glamorous shots with my friends whom I’ve been thru’ uni with:

Thanks alot for borrowing me your notes.. I promise I won’t skip lectures anymore.

Photo taken in the toilet! I think I did well by fitting most of us in my new toy boy. So proud.

With Richard – another brain from the Congress . Another person whom I always look forward to work with.
I was told: This is not the end of the journey. Fact, it is just the beginning for real life.
Seriously? If that is the case, quick! SLAP ME! Someone! wake me up!!! Quick!

Kian thinks the sunflower is outstanding, just like my *ahem*

Awesome Threesome. Partners in crime in the lab.

Serisouly, that camwhore-gene in running in the blood. Mum and Nana had been dragging me everywhere for tourist photos! They are so cute!

Dad took this photo for us. Speaking of me and Kian, don’t even get me started the conversation ’bout our future wedding dinner. sweat hell man.

The whole ceremony was quite boring. We all have to wait for the hundreds of ppl to be called out. I have sore feet now, and it is not even funny at all.
Till then, more photos and updates soon. Night.
Hello everyone! Thanks for all your texts, emails..They are so lovely, some of them are quite funcky too! Awesome! I feel so loved.
WE like to wish you all a very very Happy Chinese New Year. Wish you all a healthy and properous year! If you already married, don’t forget to gimme an ang-pow (Red Packet). p/s: I accept cash-less Red Packet. All I want is the good luck wish from you all. Cheers!
Something for exciting! Yes! The boy is back in Town. YAY!

more YAY-ness — I finally got my camera back.
We headed down to The Left Bank for our own version of little reunion dinner. The seafood platter was sooo good.

More self-portrait from me.
We went down to Fo Guang Shan Temple (W.A) at Mayland. The feeling was just so very Chinese-New-Year!

I was wearing the same dress from dinner. For you truely Chinese folks, yes, it is indeed not very (traditionally) Chinese friendly.

I will post out more photos in my next coming entry.
YAY! More colourful pictures for my weblog, no more photo-less entries.
*awesome*
Few weeks ago, we received an invitation from a girl from work to her wedding, the moment when I opened up the card, a colleague of mine asked me: Will you feel like joining the trend too?
I kindly answered, NO WAY! And I won’t sob too. The later additional explanation wasn’t even asked in the question. I just want to let my friends know that I am strong, I am not usuall sob all the emotional moments. *tahan je lah*
We headed down to a Park. Although it was drizzling for a bit in the arvo, but nothing could stop the wedding. We all waited passionately. We divided ourselves nicely between the aisle – the drug addicts and non-addicts. That’s just the side joke.
The moment the music started to play: I swear, by the moon and the sky … …
OK. I lied. I struggled to hold my tears in my eyes. It was such a touching and lovely moment. p/s: don’t get me wrong. I am still not joining the trend, yet.
The couple exchanged vows. They exchanged the eternal rings. We were still in tears.
We cannot feel any happier and luckier for this special moment. p/s: I am still not joining the trend.
M* is so gorgeous. For the first time, we call her Mrs. X.And yes, she is celebrating Christmas as Mrs X for the first time.. so many first-times. Nice.
I took quite a few of photos. There are so many which turn outto be a very good photo. Fact, every single photo in my weblog are my favourite

For Facebookers, this is the real deal of chest bump. D cups versus A cups. My boss think I am dirty. Ta ma deh! I am very innocent one leh, ok?
This photo has been sepia-fied to match the rest of sepia setting photos. For the real deal and the entire album, see HERE.
We sang along with the wedding singer, we danced along side with the famous Macarena, we had yummie lamb shank. Riesling and lemonande. Lager and Bourbon.

For my friends, M and P – Congratulation!! All the best!

and YUMMMMM SENG!!!! (cheers)
