About Me
Name: Cynthia Foo. *obviously the!*
My Chinese name is 晶晶 (Jng Jng) meanning twinkling (stars). Yet, my family and close friends back home call me 慧慧 (Huey Huey) meanning ‘wisdom; wise’. The reason my late grandpa changed my name to the latter one because the pronunciation of Jng Jng sounds very close to my maternal grandma’s name in Teow Chew (One of the Chinese origin dialect). To avoid confusion, my genius family members gave me an extra name.
But, today..I am neither a star nor a wise person. =.=”’
Current Location: Perth, Western Australia
Family: I am the eldest, and I have 2 younger brothers and a younger sister. I born in a happy family. Happy, open-minded, ‘crazy’, full of traditional Asian and Oriental value yet with Western civilised element. This make me a very optimistic and happy-go-lucky person. But sometimes, I feel like I am rather an Asian version of bimbotic blonde.
Occupation: It is not hard to tell what I do for living
Hobbies and Interests:
1. Knowledge seeking. I love reading. I read almost everything… and craps (maybe?). Internet, news, politics, books, papers..everything.
2.Photography. I love taking photos! I love all sorta photos–with friends, strangers, people…everyone whom I encountered before; I love random pictures too. I like using my pseudocreative imagination and insanely crazy idea to compose a good picture using my camera, Canon IXUS. I love taking photo for others and taking photos of others while they taking photo.
All those pictures I’ve been taken, never been photoshopped. Yeah! ’cause I don’t know how to photoshop anyway. I even have problem resizing photos! If you think my photos are great, yeah…they are from my eyes.
3. Cooking and Food. I enjoy my food. I am a hardcore foodie.
4. Getting myself involved and occupied. I love non-stop doing things - I’ve been participating in event organising in several health and pharmaceutical organisations such as West Australia AIDS Council (WAAC), Western Australia Pharmaceutical Students Association (WAPSA), National Australia Pharmacy Student’ Association (NAPSA) and currently I gotten myself into International Pharmaceutical Students’ Federation (IPSF). w00t
5. Media. I love watching movies, BBC comedies, dvd, tv, youtube, advertisement, billboard ad etc etc. Anything that make me smile, giggle and laugh! I’m a sukka of all sort of comedies and good quality movies. I don’t mind high-tech well modified movies, as long as they have good story lines and don’t leave out the sense-of-humour. If there are some cute dudes or hot chicks in there, it is definitely a bonus too ;)
6. Meeting new friend, talking to people. I am always amazed and inspired by those conversation and I can’t stop thinking, Thank Buddha I am still alive and the world is just so beautiful.
Pet:
1. Gold fishes.
What I want to do in the future:
1. land on my dream job which I yet to figure out what it will be.
2. learn how to play a piano
3. marry Kian and I don’t want to organise a big wedding.
4. own a bigger fish tank
5. I will tell you in the future. wtf

Hi,
I was looking for Bg.Serai pictures online and found your blog. Just wanted to let you know that you did a good job in capturing the accent of the town.
Thanks

Hello Cynthia,
It was a lovely blog, indeed. I can easily relate most of the places you have mentioned there. I know your mom and dad, and some of your paternal/maternal uncles. in fact, I know your maternal grandparents, too! They were very close friends to my parents as well.
BS is a very small town, I am guessing…Han Khew’s dad owned Giam Seng located along Main Rd. and Jetty Road? He was my eldest brother’s classmate at one time. His brother Han Hoe was my classmate, and his yonger sister was my sister’s classmate…small world! In fact, if I am not mistaken, Han Khew’s uncle (Prof. Lim) was the first Ph.D. in BS, and one of the few who were educated in overseas if not the first.
Cynthia, if you do not mind, I would like to take this opportunity to contact Kee via your blog.
Kee, are you from Alor Pongsu by any chance? Where in Alabama do you residing? I am in Memphis, Tenn.
Happy blogging.
