Bharathanatya Arangetram by Apiramy Namasivayam
I attended a Bharathanatya Arangetram (an classic Indian performance) by Apiramy (Api).
Api is a friend of mine whom I know from work.
I call her Tangke-chick, as in Little Sister in Tamil.

She told me she was very nervous; I figured out as her Akka (Big Sister in Tamil) I should give her my support no matter how busy I was.
It wasn’t just a dance performance. It was her Graduation Night. Gosh! I knew it was a big thing for her, but little did I know it was THAT BIG. I’m glad I was there because historically, I’ve just withnessed the most amazing, most beautiful traditional dance performance ever in my life. [and I started crying as I type this]
Perth born and bred Api has been training with Madurai R. Muralidaran and Smt. Chithra Muralidaran in India over Summer uni holiday. Fact, she has been dancing since she was 4 and she has been doing alot of perfomance in the Temples. I’m amazed how much she can cope as a busy Pharmacy student.

Api’s dad has been flying heaps of talents from all over the world. Check out the flautist, Navin Iyer, apparently he plays for Slumdog Millionaire too. [Yes, that’s how BIG was the dance performance, all the heavy-weighed/top-quality musicians]

Here are some photos that I took from the other night.
Check out the custumes, the colours, the textures… they are absolutely beautiful!

I got very emotional when I saw Api dancing on the stage. In fact, I already wanted to cry when I met her backstage.
Deep down, I just knew it would be a huge success.

Again, congratulations on the sucess, Tangke-chick!
