Day 3 - Another Playing-Tourist-Day
I am very determined to continue writting about my Down South trip with my friends.
It was just a holiday, but personally, the friendship and all the moment we shared - they were absolutely fantastic!
We slept in for a far bit on Day 2, as a result we had to schedule our wine tour on Day 3.
Day 3 was meant for the beach. But the beach wasn’t pleasantly clean. *unimpressed*
Wine Tour - to be more specific, it was a cultured-babe wannabe trip ![]()
Like you know - swirl the wine glass, smell, and sip. All the non-sense.

Our first stop was at Island Brook Estate

I enjoyed the friendly environment - the manager was very accomodating. She allowed us to taste quite a lot of wines.
She told us about the grapes, how the weather affects the flavour of the wine, what they do over Summer, the process etc etc. It was very educational and informative. Suit us nerds
Best of all : FREE tasting!

For fun’ sake
We bought some reds at Island Brook - apparently they are SWEET RED!
Really, neither me, Laine nor Lexie know how to appreciate wine.
We don’t really have the clue of the body of the wine, if they are wooded or unwooded, dry, after taste etc etc.
As long as they are sweet, and taste friendly like LLB — all good!
Our second stop at Pilandri
Pilandri has a very spacious cellar with classic setting.

They had nice packagings; they sell Guess bags. [my respond towards those bags: WTF those bags doing here? aint they mean to be sitting in Myer or David Jones???]
About their wine? Nothing to brag about.
First, the lady served up a very dry wine which didn’t come to our liking. full stop. we didn’t continue proceed to wine tasting. We walked around, checking some photos they had instead.
We had a nice toilet break thou
After that, we drove to Evan and Tate.
Once we walked in, we were offered a sweet Moscato. Erm, clearly, the manager could read our mine.
We decided to buy 2 bottles, happily!
Yet, at the end of transaction, we only came to realise that we can actually buy the wine at Woolworth or Liquorland, annoyingly TMD.

The last stop: XANADU (!!!)
My favourite amongst all. Fact, it is OUR favourite!
The dessert wine was absolutely tasty! (see, I must re-emphasize that we aint very cultured. All we look for is a tasty wine) Hehe :)
And we all bought a bottle each of the dessert wine!
I deeply regreted as I didn’t purchase at least half of the dozen. =(
Please oh please! If someone happend to go to Xanadu, please buy me a (or more) bottle of the dessert wine, please!
(I will love you, more)

We took a long break at Xanadu. We sat down, had a cuppa, read some Bridal magazine and picked some wedding gowns for each other. Some random girl things. It was very sweet.
I really appreciate how we all communicate with each others; just like how a friend should be treating their friend.
If I have to put a few words to describe our friendship , it would be like this : nice, crispy clean and honest sweet flavour.
We pretty done by the time we did 4 wineries.
And god knows Lexie and Laine wanted to go horse riding. Totally randomism.
I was very reluctant - I’m not a risk taker.

And I really kia-see (scared of dying).
I like trying new things, but not those danerous activities. The last time when I did something very crazy was at Perth Royal Show. I went for a ride.. and I shit scared. I promised Kian I would never do something too adventerous. I will come home to him in ONE PIECE!
So, all the pulls and pushes.. I went with them.
Peer pressure is a beeyoch! haha! But it was good fun!

I was shit scared and panic. I kept joking how those people look and us like McLeod’s Daughter
McLeod’s daughter is local telly drama. All bout farm, love, and plenty of horse riding.
Lexie didn’t get the joke that much; prob she doesn’t watch that much local telly as me and Laine did.
So I changed the topic to BROKE BACK MOUNTAIN!

“Brokeback, Brokeback!!” Eh, you gotta have some fun. Yeah. I talked shit when I shit scared.
This is me — McLeod’s Daughter-wannabe on a Brokeback horse.

Speaking of horse riding, they both got gut and went for horse trotting! I on the other hand, did a simple ride with the instructor.
I can’t recall what’s the name of the horse. All I knew is, he was tired and got abit intimidating. I was told he is a very ‘competitive’ horse, he likes to lead. And all the while I actually hold him back! LOL. Oh well, I did well and I survived.
It was a shit scared journey but it was good fun!
p/s: I’m counting down for NAPSA Congress 2009 - 3 days to go. I’m very excited! There are loads of work to do in Logistic. I’ve been running in and out, speaking to sponsors, reps, companies etc etc. It can be tiring esp we had top 40 degree weather. But, all good. I’m proud of myself and other OC.
Will update soon.
If I don’t get to do so, I like to wish you all GONG XI FA CHAI and a Happy and Prosperous Chinese New Year!!!!
xoxo

You make me laugh Cynthia…looks like you had fun though!
Some times when I go horse riding I actually stay on the horses.
[Yes, I have fallen off before].
You girls like SWEET WINES. Not tasty wines. lol Some wines are tasty, but taste awful. lol
I am allergic to wine, so no wine tasting for me.
I don’t know why people buy me bottles of the stuff. I still have heaps in the cupboard, including a desert wine that probably tastes like vinegar by now!
Oh, I forgot. GOng the Fat COw!
Happy CNY to all!
I had been to Xanadu too. Like you said, it is really a very nice place. I bought two bottles of red wine too.
OMG you went horse riding.. okay you got on a horse. A good start
If you like sweet dessert style wines, try “Sunstone” they do a red and white. REALLY SWEET. Awesomely yummers!
