A weekly date at the Silk Road (Applecross)
No matter how busy I am, I will always come out with some dating ideas with my bf once a week.
A movie night at home (no internet, no phone calls), two of us, in a blanket over a cup of tea.
A date over a hearty lunch, or Boost Juice or bubble tea. A drive down the riverbank. A walk in electronic stores (that’s more likely his idea)
Sometimes a week ago, I decided to go for a Aussie Asian dinner. We wanted to go out somewhere nice to grab a bite. Food didn’t matter our palate at that time (not THAT much anyway), it was the ambient and the company of each other. Plus, I had the urge do some blogger fink. Ya know, quitely take your camera out, zoom into macro, take a good photo of your dinner, and annouce to the entire world that how great was your dinner and wheather if you going back or not, kinda staff. ![]()
At the end, we decided to go to the Silk Road — a local that we never tried before.

We started off with some drinks. It was good for two of us just sit down, and enjoy the hospitality. The waitress was very friendly and very accomodating.
I decided to go Curry Laksa. It came in a BIG bowl.

This is how BIG it is — the diameter of the bowl is as wide as my chest.
I can hear some ppl ‘WOW’-ing on the other side.
Taste wise, it is great. It is not a typical hawker curry laksa — oily, dodgy part of chicken meat, utilisation of artificial crap sticks.
Here, I can taste the chef’s passion over the food. The only ingredient I dislike the most is the fish balls! I don’t quite get it why people like to dumb some fake fish into such a tasty curry brooth? never mind.

Kian decided to go for Nasi Lemak (I think so)

It was very flavourful, and we both like it. If you wondering why ‘we’ both like this dish, only because I pinched his.

I really like the idea of arranging all the dishes nicely in a big plate. It looks beautiful and appetising. Fact, I prepared quite a fair bit of dinner using this sorta of ideas. I’m very impressed myself
(I said I want to do a bit of blogger thing, didn’t I?) It was a great night. I love Kian’s company at anytime. …. … ..
I shall leave everything here. You don’t want to get overloaded with bloggerish thing, don’t you?
I will post a few cooking post in the up coming posts. Ciao!
That was definitely a very massive bowl! Enough to swim a couple of koi in it.. eh?
looks yum!!!
It’s a sweet thing to do - making plans together for a date or a night out together with your bf/gf every week. I’m a big fan of doing that too - it makes the relationship last longer.
Yeah, that really is a HUGE bowl. I couldn’t see you behind it.
Yum yum yum!
And err… nasi lemak with fork and spoon? LOL.
Wow besarnye mangkuk, as big as my big fat face…
. Sedap tak? Maybe one day I can date my dear husand there. But b4 that kena cari baby sitter first to babysit my two naughty monkeys at home.
Looks awesome. Penny and I have been wanting to go to this restaurant since it first opened… we just haven’t gotten around to it. I will be glad to let her know that you thought it was great.
I feel sorry for the fish when they only cook their balls and throw the rest away.
Very clever for you to imply people say “wow!” when they see your chest
, you are such a genius.
LB: yeah, I think I can drown a few grilled baby kois in it
Petrina: I don’t mind going back again. They don’t serve the best hawker food, but service wise, they are very friendly. asian hawker food doent usually come with good service
Huai Bin:Ha! Im not hidding! I love this routine — weekly dating thing. Thats why me and Kian are still here after 7 1/2 years.
day-dreamer: very gwai-low stylo, right? but it is good.
kak flower: you can date at some restaurant that come with child-care?? can? just a thought.
Angie: it is definitely worth a trial. and dont forget to bring your Entertainmnet Card too!
dab: lol .. thats sucha blonde statement. You know what I mean , dont you?
cooknengr: I must say the genius-ness is coming from your own imagination. lol I didnt even tend to imply it that way..but since you think so, eh? might as well. I cant help to lol again. jeee.
Luckly no see hum or else I will be salivating.
