Dental Day
I visited my family dentist, Dr. Foo while I was back home. When I said family dentist meaning she looks after EVERYONE’ teeth in my family–nana (grandma), dad, mum, brothers, sister, aunties, uncles etc etc. *Look! So many teeth here!*

I always get fascinated when I visit local dentist or doctor, especially when I see those huge wooden signboard with Chinese characters being engraved and painted in gold (colour). The Chinese characters and phrase are the combination of Chinese art, medicine and the meaning of saving people lives. Very fascinating!
When I was a little girl, every visits to a GP or dentist, I told myself I wanted to be one of them : saving people lives; If I run my own clinic, I get to keep those art work as well!
But I wasn’t very sure if I would like it at that time as I quite oftenly get put off by the chemical smell/odour. Surprise! Suprise! Now, I am working in pharmacies.

This is Dr. Foo. She is one of the rellos from my dad’s side of family. [p/s: We are Hakka. Not Hainamese. ]
Dr. Foo is always very pleased and impressed when she check my teeth. She always say: very nice and clean teeth you ‘ve got here, it seem like you just got your teeth cleaned yesterday. Yeah, remember I have Obsessive-Complusive Disorder? I like everything nice and clean, including my teeth. By the way, I only get to visit her every 2-3 years when I get the chance to go home.

All smiling before tooth extraction.
This trip was more than regular dental check and cleaning. One of my wisdom teeth needed to be extracted. See how that little fello is not growing straight?

Having dental tooth extracted when I was supposed to enjoy my holiday was not much fun. But I can deal with it.
I had all sort pain killers ready– from non-opioid, anti-inflammatory till hardcore pain killer.
I desperately needed to reduce the pain as much as I could, so I won’t miss out all the yummie food.
Dr. Foo gave 2 injections of local anaesthetics; gosh!!! They tasted very bitter !! They might look like Vodka, taste wise? Nah nah! *shudder*
Dr. Foo in action. Patient is my nana

The surgical took less than 25 minutes. The timing was similiar to the previous procedure many years ago.
My dentist thinks I am very ‘brave’ and I do well (as usual). I cheeckily answered: “Oh you see.. we both have the same family name, I mustta get some your gene somewhere. ” She was all smiling.
Ta dahhhhhh~!!! This is my wisdom tooth! It is a such a big chunck of tooth I must say. Bigger wiser?

I asked Dr. Foo to leave the stiches slightly abit longer than usual as I won’t be able to make it for another visit. I had this surgical 3 days before I flying back to Perth. Kian was the one to remove them..oh well, he had no choice, he had to do it

I requested my brother, Mengjin korkor to take me for lunch. I wanted to eat something nice food while the local anaesthetic was still working. (kor, as in older brother; he is youger than me. Everyone in the family call him kor because he is the eldest son in my family)
kor: “can you please hurry up taking photos?”
me: “hurry-up-ING lah!!!!!” I have toothache!!”

me: ” Ok, I am done. You can eat now. Oh yeah! remember I have toothache. Be nice to me! Leave some food for me.” ;P
kor: ” erm.. I thought you would talk less if you have toothache? Anyway, whoever move faster get to eat first.” *stick the tongue out*
me think: I wish I can shut up at one point, too(!!!)

Erm.. look at the shushi platter, this is reason why he wanted to have them all. =_=”’

Kor ordered some solid food for himself..

and some semi-solid toufoo for me

I was all smiling…just like before I got my tooth out. And kor was all happy too, cause I didn’t get to eat that much.
When I had my wisdom tooth removed years and years ago here in Italy, all I could remember was the SAW, and the smell of burning tooth!!! ARGH! LOL.. Then a few years ago, I had another removed that didn’t involve any SAWS! I was so glad!! And the dentist told me I have to survive on gelato ice cream for a couple of days - no hot food!! Wheeee!!
LB: I can handle that.. I can do 2 weeks gelato ice cream or icey ice
Not a problem. Not at all.
eee…that wisdom tooth so big wan! u keep it for the tooth fairy?
Wuching: NO! it is going to be a b’day gift for Kian’s sister who is doing dentistry in South Australia. She needs it
I remember after plucking my wisdom in Kl, I have to take a cab in Bangsar and met with my hubby and kiddy in Bangsar shopping centre. The funny thing was, I saw someone I had a crushed on when I was so young. Too scare to see him. So I quickly hide behind other people and quickly went upstairs to see my kiddies at the kidzspot. So malu sebab I rasa macam my muka so bengkak dan I tak boleh cakap properly sebab my lips so numb…. Hehehehehe
kak flower: heheh..what an unforgetable experiece eh? yeah..the numbing feeling was abit too much, but i was still able to talk
Going to the dentist is fun. Escpecially if you have hard core opiate pain killers.
In the US the dentists actually give out Percocets. Imagine that! I would have a toothache just to get an excuse to get some of that.
FireElement.com: they give PERCOCETS? er..that is abit too much. Even ppl get FOUR widom teeth extracted, they only got Meloxicom (anti-inflammatory) and Panadeine Forte as back up
yer i hate to do dental checkup..
i promise the dentist to go visit her last year..and one year liao, stil havent realised. hahaha
winn: you should go get your teeth checked! it is sooo cheap to do in Msia!!
all my wisdom teeth are still intact..
keep fingers crossed hopefully they won’t give me any problem(s) in the future..
Chen: yeah..butthey serve no purpose anyway right? Good luck! ekekke
*faints from site of blood on the tooth*
woman sees blood everymonth..you dont see me faint every month!
*comes to*
*faints again from site of stitches*
So, Doctor Foo must be close to my age. lol
I think she is older than you!
Why not do your own Caligraphic Gold and Black sign for your Pharmacy?
Yeah! I was thinking of doing so..but I need the whole community to put their name down. it is kinda like tradition..and I do want to feel like a local celeb!
*faints again at the thought of the size of the tooth*
I’m lucky, my wisdom teeth came through straight [like all my teeth]. I only have two wisdom teeth though. I guess I’m only half as smart as people who get four!
This is sooo true. I am not sure how many I’ve got. 2 taken out..duno if any left ?
BUBBLE TEA!!!! Sorry, conditioned reaction.
*faints from thought of Bubble Tea*
Hey! Icey Ice is the new black! I bring you there next time. When is your birthday?
My Burpday is in May!
May the 31st!
[Last day of May].
If I have a party, you and Kian are coming? Right?
I work from 25th May till 1st June, Dab. I love to go! Keep me informed!
My wisdom teeth almost killed me when extracted. Oh well. You are too happy to feel the pain ya? I just ate ice cream for days.
it IS just a surgical procedure after all..not a drama that traumatizing or something ;P
[…] There is this ancient animal jaw and teeth fossil display in Mammoth Cave. It makes me wonder, the whole part of animal is gone by now, oh well, that’s pretty obvious, isn’t? But the thing is, why only the jaw and teeth part? If this means that these particular parts are the least destructible, why? We human being still spend top money for insurance to pay for dental job? I, myself pretty obsessive-compulsive looking after my teeth. I brush my teeth after meals. I floss 2-3 times a day when required. I gargle with Listerine® to max out the cleaned sensation in my mouth. But, I haven’t pay big money for dental work. *touch wood* Remember, it was my family dentist who did my dental work. The extraction costs less than RM100. niiiice. […]
