Coffee Table

Coffee Table is a local shop which specialised in making all soft of yummie dessert–cookie, cake, chewies etc etc. Located at Cambridge St, Floreat. It is approximately 5 minute down the road from where I work in Subiaco.

I like doing the ‘local’ thing wherever I go. Man, you just need to ‘exhaust’ the best local food–best cakes, coffee, sausages, meat pies. They are always fantabulous!

My personal (and ALL my other colleages) favourite from Coffee table is ‘Chinese Chew’–biscuitish, cake-ish, oatmeal. walnut, spices. Erm, a perfect combination. (No photo taken, so yeah, use your imagination *wink*) My collegeas believe ‘Chinese Chew’ is Chinse food, they want me to ‘puke’ the receipe out for them!! What?

Mind you, the onwer is not Chinese, they are true-blue. Well, I supposed people like to use Chinese thingy so it sound cool. Don’t cha rekcon? ;)

Is like.. You see people like to tatto themselve with Chinese green gragon, Chinese character such as ‘World Peace and Love, ‘Friendship’.. How cool? And another cool thing!! Using CHOPSTICKS!!! Oh my god!! Seriously, when I go to Chinese Restaurant, and I see non-Asian using chopsticks. oh my my! That’s just so ‘ME’!! ME=cool!!!!! I always love people using chopsticks! Because I am a very chopsticks person, I even eat spagetti with chopsticks. No chopsticks=No ’shiok’ (fun).

So really, people really think Chinese (art, culture, tradition, fashion, food) is cool. Especially Beijing 2008 is approaching.. everyone wanna do some ‘Chinese’ thing. I have the vibe people will get even more chinesified by that time! People might wanna learn how to speak simple Chinese!! How cool is that!?

So bananas!! You better hurry up! If you don’t know any Chinese words ;)

Speaking of Chinese (cool).. guess what I’ve found right infront of the Coffee Table the other day?

A red Scooter!!!! How cute is that??

View from left. Check it out the classic look, Big head light. So 60s. Oh my Buddha!!! Don’t you just wanna hump on it??

The view from right. Oh dear! How cool is that??

If you haven’t notice my bag on the scooter…YEP!!! This is MY scooter!!!!!!! :)

Red crumpler + Red Milan (the name of scooter) + ME = cool, cute Chinese.

What a complete equation and package!! :)

I don’t think anything can be  cooler this at this moment. AH! ;)

Recurrence Obsessive Compulsive Behaviour (OCB)

Last night, I gone MAD. It was all the sudden, my adrenaline level just raised like rocket, and it went no where.

I had rather busy day yesterday– worked in the morning. ride home in the pouring rain, in my scooter, soaked wet. got changed. rushed to uni. supervised first yr student in pharm practice lab. how cool? I am supervising. and yeah, went to local Harvey Norman. rushed our way thru’ the traffic to Perth Motor Show. and. headed off for light dinner. How crazy.

I meant to be tired, exhausted, and worn out. Big time. I meant to take another hot shower, wear my Paul Frank pj, and sleep. and I didn’t.

Took off my pantyhose and skirt. And guess what? I started cleaning the house!!

I re-arranged the furniture; the computer desk was shifted from South to North (feng-shui position at home). I moved the TV aside. And everytime I moved a table, a chair, I see abit of dusk around the corner, I started vacuuming!!!

And all these happend at 12am!!!

I went even further.

Took my bra off.. bloody hell!  The bra straps seem to like falling down toward  the end of the night. And I sucked the fish tank water out. Left 1/4. I think my gold fishes got freak out too.

I still have bits and pieces on my writting (dinning) table.

My adrenaline level hasn’t fall down. Not just yet. I want to do cooking now.  Stir fry beef with vegetable. Marinate chicken wings. Fried rice with bacon. Cut celery for my daily fresh juice.

Yeah. I am crazy.

Chillax on Saturday Night

Headed off to Utopia, Northbridge on Saturday night. I haven’t been going out at night for awhile, I guess. All these times, I have no idea what I am busy for. Book? Work? Eat? Sleep? Sh*t? Anyway, no matter how busy I am, one thing for sure, I love to catch up with some friends that I haven’t seen awhile.

By the way, it is not a Perth blogger meet or whatsoever. It just happend that these people keep a blog :)

This is Nadia the makcik. Oh yeah, before I go any further. This is my latest hair cut. Had it done 2 weeks ago. Seriously, my hair grow so bloody the fast. It was wayyyyy shorter 2 weeks ago, and all the sudden, they GROW!!

It was all good. Everyone talks to everyone. They moved their arses around, and talked to other people. Very socialising. It could be a catch-up, and yet it could be a meeting-new-friend session for others.

Robin and David.

Whereas for me and Kian.. it is a good thing too! You can’t expect two of us, living in our own little world all the time, right? We need to get out from the house, get some fresh air…

It is good to see thing has not been changed. The ‘thing’  I am refering to.. the lovey dovey side of everyone larrr! :P

Bubble tea is awesome mann. As usual.

8 people where there… turn out, 3 people brought their camera. I am not one of them. =) All these photos were taken by Robin.

Like I said.. I just wanna chillax (chill out + relax), I don’t want to be bothered with batteries, memory card etc etc. It was Saturday night. For Buddha sake, I just had my exam the day before, and I had to work during the day on Sat-day. I just can’t be stuffed. *slack arse me* Anyway, I knew someone will bring tag their camera along. Hehehe.. I just know. :)

Marcus  . Without his emo glass.

Rodney– some random pedestrian. You better believe it, I call this dude for few times, and he always say ‘boh eng’ (busy), and when he calls me, it happens to me my turn ‘boh eng’.. and after almost 6 months..we finally meet up. Nahbeh!!! Perth is very the small only leh!!! =.=”’

By the way, before I finished off, short hair is not that suitable  to me. I knew, and I know that! I had no choice ok? *sob* The hairdresser back home kinda screwed things up while he got my hair done. Well, whatever done is done. I reckon I need a change once in awhile. p/s: my cuteness remains the same *ahem* I don’t mind, really. My hair is growing anyway. On earth…people only realise my hair is shorter, but they don’t realise my *ahem* have shrinked abit too!! Thank God for that! Hehe.. I lost 2 kilos recently…I need to buy a pair of good push-up bras or silicon pads. Er..something to support ‘them’.

Anyway … It was all good. It IS all good.

Have a nice week ahead. Me heading back to my work. It dues in 11 hours. I shall stop entertaining myself.

Ciao~!

Tag: My 5 Favourite Eating Places

From Chen . I lazy to read thru’ the ‘rules’. When come to food, I just can’t wait to jump into the topic straight away!! :)

FIVE favourite eating places in Perth? Easy! Easy! In fact, I have more than five places!!

1. Hong Kong Barbeque, Northbridge.

I call HK BBQ as my secondary kitchen. Whenever me and Kian lazy to cook over the weekend, we will drive to town, enjoy yummie bbq and roated meat, and of course, the friendly conversation with the staff members.

My favorite dish is roated duck. I would say I order this particular dish most (99%) of the time when I go over. It is very very yummie! They are fresher, the skin is crunchier, and the meat this thicker compared to others. I tried many other restaurants before, neh! They just don’t make me happy.

How to descripe the ‘un-happiness’? I am thinking.

In adultery term, it is like.. you don’t have enough sex good night sleeps. In nerd term, it is like.. you don’t score more than 80% (or probably slightly less than this), you get cranky, unsatisfied.

By the way, I am half of the nerd. :)

‘Loh Han Zai’ (Mixed Vege Stir Fry) is my favorite. Oh, minus the fungus.

And toufu… as usual. I have been eating this hot-plate toufu dish for awhile, I still don’t know what’s the name. Whenever I order toufu, they just know which one to cook for me ;)

Yes, this is how often I go there.

2. Ciao Italia, South Perth

This is a local Italian Restaurant. Approximately 10 min away from my house. They serve absolutely yummie Italian dishes. Oh well, I won’t call it my favourite restaurant if they don’t cook good food, right? Stupid me.

The pasta is so real! Real as in… they use very organic/original cooking ingredients. Lotsa REAL spices. Not like those opening a can of tomato sauce and poor everything into your pasta. You get what I mean? ;P

Good food comes with good price too. *smile*

And the pizza… Kian loves chilli king prawn pizza. He orders it every single time. Do you hear me? Every single time.

I don’t mind, really. I enjoy seeing the hot chefs putting all the ingredients on the pizzas-from one pizza to another pizza, and dump them into the wood-fired generated oven.. now, that IS HOT! ;)

3. Thai Corner Restaurant, Applecross

The food are all well done. Beautifully crafted. If you a big fan of spices like lemongrass, chili, coriander, lemon… yes! Shouldn’t do food post in the morning, espcially I haven’t got any brekky.

Some old photos from my previous post.

I still ask the same question whenever I go there– this is THAI restaurant, they have all the THAI working there. But I don’t see THAI ah-kuah? (pondan)

Well, I never been to Bangkok. Bangkok eh. Remind me of American Pie. Stifler asked: What’s the capital of Thailand? BANG KOK!!!

Yeah.. back to food, Bangkok. Yeah, I never been there before, and since I was young, I heard lotsa oldies telling me about the Tiger Show, Pondan Show.. My mind is full of these imagination whenever I think of Thailand. Ermm… how they actually look like?

Bah! For now, we settled on food. THAI food. ok? NEXT!!! (flip another page)

4. Utopia, Northbridge.

If only you like vegetarian chinese food.

My strict vegetarian friends bring me there… and I bring those not-so-strict vegetarian friends there.

It is a nice place to sit down and don’t eat meat. For once in a while. :)

But yeah, most of the time, I pop in to grab bubble tea. Oh yeah, bubble tea!!

Speaking of Bubble Tea…. My favorite bubble tea is peach flavour and bubble (sago) at ALL time. What’s yours?

4. Ciccrella’s Fish and Chips

Whenever I feel like a dirty and oily fish and chips, we go down to Freo. As dirty as you can get… and all the fat. OH! SO NICE!!

Too bad.. no fish and chips photo! I ate them all before I managed to take a photo. Erm, I shall show you next time.. especially the fat/oil that soaked underneath the paper. OH! SO NICE!

By the way, chilli mussels is authentic.

5. Various Cafes - Miami House, Bicton; Gloria Jeans, Victoria Park; Brew Ha, Subiaco etc etc…….

We both like doing the local thing. Local, as in.. 10-15min away from my house. Eat the local pie and fruit tart. And enjoy a cup of tea/coffee,

Speaking of coffee or tea? Are you a coffee person or tea?

Me? TEA! minus sugar. minus milk.

Claudine

Claudine is one of my childhood friends. I would say she is the oldest friend (and partner-in-crime) I have eva. I know her before I attended kindergarden. See! That’s how old our friendship is.

We went to the kindy together, primary school and junior high. We used to hang out very very very often when we were young. Our houses just few doors away from each other. That made everything easier-lepak, supper, holiday, school trip, girl guide, camping etc etc.

This is one of the photos we’ve taken. Not quite sure how young we were at that time.

The one on the left is Claudine, and the one on the right is me, obviously.

Oh! This is one of the birthday cards Claudine gave me. I can’t remember how many cards she gave me. She probably just gave me ONE birthday card in my life. Haha! *joking*

This card makes it very special because it was the year when Claudine left Bagan Serai for Ipoh, and it was the first time in my life ( at that time) celebrating my birthday without her. She likes singing ‘Happy Birthday’ in her own version:

“Happy Birthday to you, you were born in the zoo, with the monkeys and donkeys, and the elephants like you!!! “

Of course, I always steal her version of ’Happy Birthday’  and sing it to other people. And every time I use it, it reminds me of her. How cute?

2007. We caught up again when I was home during CNY holiday. I haven’t seen her in the past few years simply because I am here, she is there. Erm anyhow..22-years of friendship. And it is still counting. :)

Anyway, today is Claudine’s birthday. I just wanna wish her all the best in everything, everything. As usual. :)

Happy Birthday, mate!! (in aussie accent) ;)

If oNly….

yOu kNoW wHat , sOmeTim3s me tHinK mE is eIgH-TEEN sTill..

aWwww maN! sOo cUte aNd hAndsOm3!!
OK. That’s just a side joke. But I must admit, I have a soft spot for cute dude like this, and I could shamelessly ask people to take a photo of me with ‘him’. How gay is that?
So, you think I am a big fan of Prison Break (tv series)??
The answer is NO !!! :P

Kian, Robin, Icey Ice and Me!

Icey Ice is a new place in town. I dated two men with me on quite Saturday evening. Kian is one of them, obviously. And the other fella is Robin :)

I have rather busy life at the moment. Lotsa lotsa things to handle–working, working, reading, studying, keeping up with new stuffs, writting, writting, thinking, thinking; I wish there are two Cynthias at one time, so all the works can be done. Oh well, to some extend, the copy version of Cynthia can stay at home, doing ALL the housework and cooking. The real Cynthia can do all the thinking bits–what’s the best for heart failure, what’s the new treatment, how to react like a ‘cold-hearted’ b*tch when someone come and tell me: my doctor just told me I have only X months left.

Life. oh LIFE.

Is like.. I am sitting in front of a funeral house….and let born, old, sick happen before my eyes. I am kinda experience what Siddharta’ve been thru 2 milleniums ago, but I don’t think I can go even any further.. not even Nirvana.

*deep breath* stop crying *deep breath* It meant to be a happy post, remember?

It is a very icey place indeed, for Robin. I found it rather look like a hospital, and the blue light? Exactly like the UV light used in government old hospital setting to sterilise toilet. ;) But I can handle that. I’ve been thru so much emotional turmoil.. this is just a small thing :)

Anyhow, I was there for the food, so the UV light..just a side joke. *wink*

Meet up with Robin. We talked about everything. Holy Cow!! He is soooo girlfriend!! You know, girlfriend..like your girlfriends who tell you everything. Yeah. He is one of them! :)

Except … not much of my gf camwhore like him thou :P

Nowadays..everyone see me eh? The first reaction was like: HEEEEY!! You got a hair cut. Oh well, I did, few weeks ago. And this is not what really how it looks like now..’cause I had another hair cut again four days ago. Rightio! It is way shorter. ;)

my hair length is shorter than this larrr.

Today is Friday.. I mean to be happy. But I have so much in my brain now.. one of them is, I am trying to be happier.

Gosh. I am trying to remember 99 people who smile to me in this afternoon..but why on earth, I can’t stop thinking of  ONE lady who told me she just had an miscarriage few minutes ago??

Barbie at Synergy Parkland (Kings Park)

We did the usual thing on Good Friday (public holiday)–barbie at Synergy Parkland in Kings Park. (previously known as Western Power Parkland)

It was a fine day. Fine (good) Friday. The trees were all beautiful..with lovely sunshine.

Everything seem to be the same people, food, atmosphere, easter chocolate eggs. Oh well, not exactly the same. It is kinda the same-That’s what I mean.  Robert is not here this year, it’s like we missing out something. But one thing that will remain the same forever ever is Jesus sacrified Himself on the cross.

*take a deep breath* I am not Christian, but for a person who did for humanity, I personally think it is such a ‘WHOOAHHH’ thing.*respect*  I always adore and admire people who do the right thing, these people have such a spirit and energy. For new millenium like this, no chance people could do the same thing to save the world. But I reckon, say the right thing, do the right work, all these tiny small things, even a smile!! They are all ‘WHOOOAHH’ things to me. :)

Me and Jo.

What a beautiful day.  and taking a day off on Friday…ahh! That’s even betta!

Me looking all bored waiting for the food–beef, lamb, king prawn, scallop, giant squid, sausages, mushroom. Man! We ate alot :P

And I looked all happy again after the yummidelicious food ..and chocolate eggs! Yay! (from Jo)

Good Friday is public holiday in WA. It is a religious event, but when it become a public holiday, meaning it is celebrated by everyone–yellow, brown, black or white (chocolate, I mean)!! :) No work, no school, no uni.

Those chocolate chicks were given by Fion to Jo, me and Kian; I picked the sunshine yellow one because it is the cutest among em’ all. [Just like me.] Erm, not that I fancy white chocolate the best. But..  yeah! :)

*ahem*

Yeah! I prefer dark chocolate still, I must say. :P

Anyhoo..wish you all have a nice and safe Easter.

Much love, Cynthia xoxo

Dental Day

I visited my family dentist, Dr. Foo while I was back home. When I said family dentist meaning she looks after EVERYONE’ teeth in my family–nana (grandma), dad, mum, brothers, sister, aunties, uncles etc etc. *Look! So many teeth here!*

I always get fascinated when I visit local dentist or doctor, especially when I see those huge wooden signboard with Chinese characters being engraved and painted in gold (colour).   The Chinese characters and phrase are the combination of Chinese art, medicine and the meaning of saving people lives. Very fascinating!

When I was a little girl, every visits to a GP or dentist, I told myself I wanted to be one of them : saving people lives; If I run my own clinic, I get to keep those art work as well!

But I wasn’t very sure if I would like it at that time as I quite oftenly  get put off by the chemical smell/odour. Surprise! Suprise!  Now, I am working in pharmacies. :P

This is Dr. Foo. She is one of the rellos from my dad’s side of family. [p/s: We are Hakka.  Not Hainamese. ]

Dr. Foo is always very pleased and impressed when she check my teeth. She always say: very nice and clean teeth you ‘ve got here, it seem like you just got your teeth cleaned yesterday. Yeah, remember I have Obsessive-Complusive Disorder? I like everything nice and clean, including my teeth. By the way, I only get to visit her every 2-3 years when I get the chance to go home. :)

All smiling before tooth extraction.

This trip was more than regular dental check and cleaning. One of my wisdom teeth needed to be extracted. See how that little fello is not growing straight?

Having dental tooth extracted when I was  supposed  to enjoy my holiday was not much fun. But I can deal with it.

I had all sort pain killers ready– from non-opioid, anti-inflammatory till hardcore pain killer. :) I desperately needed to reduce the pain as much as I could, so I won’t miss out all the yummie food. :P

Dr. Foo gave 2 injections of local anaesthetics; gosh!!! They tasted very bitter !! They might look like Vodka, taste wise? Nah nah! *shudder*

Dr. Foo in action. Patient is my nana :)

The surgical took less than 25 minutes. The timing was similiar to the previous procedure many years ago.

My dentist thinks I am very ‘brave’ and I do well (as usual). I cheeckily answered: “Oh you see.. we both have the same family name, I mustta get some your gene somewhere. ” She was all smiling.

Ta dahhhhhh~!!! This is my wisdom tooth! It is a such a big chunck of tooth I must say. Bigger wiser? :)

I asked Dr. Foo to leave the stiches slightly abit longer than usual as I won’t be able to make it for another visit. I had this surgical 3 days before I flying back to Perth.  Kian was the one to remove them..oh well, he had no choice, he had to do it :D

I requested my brother, Mengjin korkor to take me for lunch. I wanted to eat something nice food while the local anaesthetic was still working. (kor, as in older brother; he is youger than me. Everyone in the family call him kor because he is the eldest son in my family)

kor: “can you please hurry up taking photos?”

me: “hurry-up-ING lah!!!!!” I have toothache!!”

me: ” Ok, I am done. You can eat now. Oh yeah! remember I have toothache. Be nice to me! Leave some food for me.” ;P

kor: ” erm.. I thought you would talk less if you have toothache? Anyway, whoever move faster get to eat first.” *stick the tongue out*

me think: I wish I can shut up at one point, too(!!!)

Erm.. look at the shushi platter, this is  reason why he wanted to have them all.  =_=”’

Kor ordered some solid food for himself..

and some semi-solid toufoo for me :)

I was all smiling…just like before I got my tooth out.  And kor was all happy too, cause I didn’t get to eat that much. :P
