March 2006

Fabulous Friday, Saturday & Sunday.

Great! I had fabolous weekend and Friday. My mood was extraordinary fabulous–oh well! I handed in all the uni works way before their respective due dates. Yes, yes, I know, I know, I am a good girl ;)

Friday:
Me and Kian went to Sails Seafood Restaurant at Fremantle. We haven’t been eating by ourselves for quite sometimes already, I think.

We were given window seats with ocean view. Splendid!! How cool is that?

Freo is famous for fresh seafood, fish and chips. I have seafood everytime I come down to Freo. Hehe.. I love seafood, very much.

I ordered grilled seafood–clayfish, prawns and scallops, also come with kilpatrick oysters, mussels on a bed of chips. All the seafood were perfectly cooked. Too yummie.

Kian ordered GB’s Yumbowl - a Large Bowl Filled with Half Lobster in the Shell, Prawns, and Reef Fish, finished “Gumbo Style” in a Creole Spiced Lobster Sauce. The sauce is superb; the lobster turn out slightly softer and lightly flavored with the creole spice.. It is excellent! If you go down Sails, this is a must-try main course from the main menu.

Oh yeah, this is picture of us with the ocean view.

By the way, did I tell you we celebrate our fifth year anniversary? YES, FIVE years!! and it is still counting. Cheers~!!!! =)

Saturday

We drove up to Joondalup to see the crowd, because in Perth, you don’t often get to see a place jampacked with people. No lah!!! I am just kidding. Ekekekek. It was Joondalup Festival.

Joondalup is a newly booming small town, approximately 30-minutes drive from Perth. Pretty isolated by itself.

We walked around the market area. Woooah!! Art gallery, paitings, food, paper craft, earings, organic soap and candles… all locally made. It was so so cool.

This is part of the wall painting. When I looked at the whole picture, I think it tries to tell a story of local teen life? Not? I am not sure. When come to this type of art, it takes me a bit longer to imagine a ‘thing’. =)

Dear, oh dear! Kian bought me a sugar floss. *wink wink* I haven’t eat sugar floss since I was very very young, pre-kindy, maybe?? Oh gosh! My hardwrok 60minutes swimming session in that afternoon all gone down to the drain. Haih!! [oh well, I guess is OK, rite? I only have it once in a blue blue moon] Hee Hee ^_*

We tried some local food as well. This is a stall selling Pupusa. The stall look like someone selling roti canai or murtabak, right? (if it is so, you are too Malaysian, HaHa!) Jk.

This is my first attempt. It was topped with vegetable and a little bit of chilli sauce. Darn! I shoulda tell the lady don’t add the chilli sauce.. Thank god, I didn’t cry. Heheehe… the spicyness is still in my limit. ;P

Oh!! Guess what? We saw Ernie Dingo!!! If you watch Channel Seven, The Great Outdoor, then you know who is Ernie, if not, nevermind. *_^

This is Robert and me–Ummm, what we were looking at? Nothing! We were acting funny. ;)

Sunday:
I woke up at 8am, get myself organised ’cause I went swimming with Encik Loo at Leeming. We went dim sum after that with Jo, Robert, Faadzel and Kian . Hmm, is like I totally waste of my enery used in exercise. But then, again, I tell you: It is superb SHIOK!!!! Shall we do it more often? =)

I didn’t join them to shop in city. Went off, bought a bunch of sunflower on the way back. Me and Kian visited a friend of mine in hospital.
Mandy got a baby GIRL!!! Awww!!!! It was awesome!! 9.5 pound healthy baby girl.

Mandy and Sean named her ABBY. Abby has big eyes, long finger nails; she is quite, doesn’t cry much. They will tell what’s her hair and eye colour when Abby grows up. Interesting.

Oh well, not bad being an Asian anyway; Asian babies are so much predictable–dark hair, yellow skin, dark brown eyes… I love mine. Never dye my hair (dying dark hair at late 30s is exceptional), never wear coloured contact lense, never use skin-whitening product. I just love mine =)

Till then. *smile*

Have a nice week ahead ^_^

Say CHEEEEESE!!!!

I took some pictures the other day.
Yes, yes.. The boys were busy talking and chatting about cars, F1… those things that I could never really understand. I was bored; I was so invisible to them. I could just pick my mobile phone up and call a person, keeping myself occupied. Oh well, not a good idea, it will cost me a bomb. I don’t really fancy playing sms, games in my mobile. I was too lazy to read in my Palm.. So, I picked my camera up.. and started taking pictures around–Hehe, what a cheap way to entertain myself and disturb them.. ^_^

This is Kian and me… (cheh!! is not that you don’t know.. hehe)

Half-face Faadzel and me… See! when the boys were so into their conversation, they really don’t care what I was doing. Think again when you guys say want to complain about female, we all share the equal level of ‘bitchiness’ =) Come on, we are human being after all…. ekekeke

When you put three of us together, what you see, eh?? ;)

Oh!! This is nice one, like it alot.

Speak NO evil, See NO evil, Hear NO evil…

Cool right? =)

Jacob’s Ladder

Jacob’s Ladder is my recent frequent visit place. I go there twice a week and do some exercise there.

I tried to search all over the place, apprently, Jacob’s Ladder (Perth) doesn’t show up much in the internet.
It is located at the end of Cliff Street, King’s Park. If you go up to King’s Park from Adelaide Terrace direction, turn left into Cliff Street, just before you reach the big round-about, entering King’s Park.
Parking is freely available, depend what time you go up. I normally go up at 5am or 8pm =) I haven’t got any problem looking for one parking space.

This is the ‘ladder’. It is actually a staircase, approximately 300 steps; I am not quite sure, actually. I wanted to count how many steps, but every time when I walk (not run) up/down, and you know lah, I am so tired already, how do I manage to do math up there? ;)

I usually do 3 laps. It is improving, I should be able to do more ’cause I have been practicing. Yes, no choice–once you walk down, you must walk up, it is a one-way staircase, you cannot really chicken out.

The first lap for me is OK–warming up, so not a big problem *cough*. Second lap…I can feel both my thigh are shaking abit. Third lab..hmm..I can really feel my heart is pumping and my arse is getting a bit smaller~!! The feeling is great! ^_*

This is the night view. The small little tower on the left is King’s Park.

and Ladies and Gentlemen… Let me present: Perth night view

Taaaaa Daaa!!!!!

p/s: the moon is not fake ;)

If you live in Perth, you should go there at least once, and give it a go. I am sure you will like it. Enjoy and have fun! =)

Pseudo White Wine Creamy Pasta

I am not quite sure what exactly I cooked. That’s why I call it ‘pseudo’. ;)
Most of the time, I used whatever cooking ingredients I have in pantry to cook whatever I want to eat. I don’t particularly run to the shop and buy a small thing in bulk; if I am going to use it in future, then it would be great, if not, hmmmm….then the stuffs are going to sit there, waiting for expiry date. Too bad. Oh well, wasting food (ingredient) isn’t my style. =)

Cut the crap out, and let me show you what I’ve got here.

Onion, button mushroom and chicken breat meat (cut into cube shape)
Other ingredients not shown in picture:
-200-250mL thickened cream
-one pinch of chicken stalk
-1/8 cup of white wine,
-black pepper,
-milk (if the cream is too thick, milk can be used to dilute out the viscosity)
-broccoli
-spaghetti and butter (optional).
**Note:Oh dear, please do not use skim or fat-free milk, it is insulting to the pasta. I think.

Firstly, pre-boil the spaghetti. Ok, my cooking pan is not good. I transfered them to my microwave-boiler after they were soften. 15min. Oh, I used butter in the cooking as this will enhance the creaminess of the noodle. Sometimes, I do throw couple glove of garlic to give the aroma.

Meantime, stir fry the chicken, onion and mushroom with olive oil until the chicken turns brownish as you can see here.
Meanwhile, steam the broccoli.

While the stir fry is done, add the cream, a bit of pepper and chicken stock. after couple of minutes, add the white wine. This is optional. I used very little amount of white wine, mainly just for the flavor.

When the base is done, add the steammed broccoli and give it a light stir.

Pour the base on the cooked spaghetti noodle. and they are soooo ready to go! =)

It turnt out good. I found it very nice. I don’t normally that ‘perasan’ (ego). People who know me I am a fussy b*tch when come to food. I’ve got 8/10 from Kian. Robert said it was good, but he didnt give me a mark.

Yeah, what you think? I love to hear more from you all and Cooknengr…. if you have better idea, please let me know. I appreciate it =)

Thanks .. that’s all for today. Have a nice week ahead. *smile*

My moment of Geisha

Girlfriend like this is inspiring =) Honestly speaking, I wonder how many products a lady/woman can use just to keep our face nice and smooth, more specifically… The whole cosmetic process is like an anti-againg war. I seriously have no idea. I need more girlfriends to help me in this battle–fight wrinkle, fight black-heads, fight…. er, I don’t even know what’s else to fight. =)

Oh yeah!!! Today is ’s birthday. Loong’s birthday

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, DUDE~!

…. and….hope this will freak you out.

^_^

Black-heads

I knew this was going to be painful, I knew I was going to cry after peeling of the strip from my nose…. I knew I was not and I am not coping well with the heat, I just know… But why on earth I am still doing it??

ARrrrrghhhhh~!!! I’m such a d*ckhead. *_*

Oh leh, Oh leh, Oh leh, Oh leh… Feeling HOT HOT HOT!!!

We have hot days. Very hot. Sun, UV, sweat, no rain. Perth is so not cold at this season.

I had busy weekend. Busy helping Kian searching for his stuffs–notes, papers, bits and pieces. Tee hee hee.. This happens to both of us– missplace things at home. =) On to of that, I was busy helping Robert to move stuffs, busy dealing with all sort of dramas in Summer. Nah, I am kidding. I can’t see much dramas in live, actually. How sad is that? =)

Hot days never stopped me from going out and jogging in the park. I love to feel the sweat comes out from my body, and somehow I can feel the body fat is gradually burnt. ^_*

I live in Waterford– a small suburb across Curtin Uni. Walking out from my house, there is a small pond. I like to feed the ducks with near-mouldy breads. Hahah.. I am serious. I like seeing them eating breads, meanwhile entertaining myself. Cool.

I’ve got friendly neighbourhood, but not all… OK! I am not racist. I always find Asians are not that friendly. I say HELLO to them with a big smile, bloody hell.. You know what? They seldom say HI to me. Is like, saying HI to me would kill them or shorten their life for 10 years or something. So far, there are only 2 old people who being friendly.

Oh yeah, Faadzel showed me a video clip. This is a very cool one and I really wanna share this cool stuff with you. I think this dude is cute and adorable, what a chil-out entertainer over hot day ;)

Hmm.. I used to think pelicans can not fly because they are such a huge bird, so do black swans. Kian asked me “if they can’t fly, how they reach the park?” “They walk loh!!” Funny enough I said that. And I still believed that pelicans and black swans walk to the park for long long time; no matter what Kian said, I thouhgt he was fooling me. Gosh! I am the person who totally live in my own carton world.

Till one day, I saw a flying pelican, and shouted “Hey Ney!!!! PELICAN DOES FLY!!” There I go, I was abit excited yet disappointed. I saw the truth, and I had to leave (my own) myth.

After my appendicitis operation, I tend to do exercise after meal, heavy meal =) So what? Never mind, chil out babes~!!! I no longer have appendice!!! Appendicitis-FREE!! I can run and jog as much as I like!!! Yeah!! =)

Told you, I don’t have much dramas in my life ;)

Day out without the boys

Jo and me head down to the town over the sunny Sunday. Yes, just me and Jo. It was very girly and the boys are not included, strictly ;)

We went down to David Jones for light lunch. Honestly, David Jones absolutely was not the first choice for eating; we both were crave for cool and air-conditioned location. Mind you, the mercury hits 39 degrees on that day. We started with some bread–tandori chicken, yogurt, mint , fresh salad with Turkey bread topped with sesame seeds. It tasted ‘normal’ and way from Subway. The Turkey bread tastes like ordinary bread. Very unimpressive.
Jo ordered Spring rolls. They are very chuncky and have lotsa ingredients– chicken breast meay, capsicum, carrot, vermicilli and vegetables. They looked very marvelous, but again, we can’t expect Aussies make good Chinese spring rolls. can we?
I (stupid me) ordered fried rice. FYI, I am a big fan of fried rice. Sadly to say, David Jones served shitty fried rice. Ooooops! Did I just say shitty? I dont eat sh*t, k? =)
Jo described the fried rice is cooked using Maggi packet sauce. On top of that, the chef didn’t seem to fry properly and the tastes weren’t evenly distributed. I could taste MSG, sugar(?), salt, soy sauce clearly all over the place. Damn, I can do better fried rice.

Soon after lunch, we went shopping around. I did shop too, windowly =)

Here, I love to show you my favorite shop in Perth– Asia Tree. I’ve been to this shop for many many zillion times, but I only bought an item once. Honestly speaking, they are quite dear. Yea yeah, call me cheap skate.

Asia Tree sells a wide range of furniture collectively from Asia countries. Bed, storage, tables, chairs… all sort of antique furniture. They are fabulous!!!

I like the furniture department down at the basement of the store– it just feel like I just walking thru’ my grandaunty’s old house. Full of memories and smiles; quite oftenly we got lotsa home made sweet that kept us from disturbing those busy-chit-chatting aunties.

I love the silky towels displyed on the bed. Fine and classic.
Grandma’s basket. Nana used to place all her Chinese dumplings in this basket on lunar 5th May. Then we all would jump into the old car, looking for grandpa in the estate where he worked. I used to think the basket was huge, heavy and bulky when I was little, but soon I grow up, it seems so small, tiny and light–yet fulled of grandpa’s smile and great childhood stories.
Pictured wardrobe.

I’ve seen alot of those wardrobes in my mum’s relative house, however, we don’t have any of them. I love an old piece of wardrobe, or cupboard. When I was 8, there was an accident occured where dad’s shop was hitted by a car, driven by a drunk man. The upper part of the shop collapsed, and dad had to throw away quite a number of damaged items. I picked up an old cupboard that grand-dad left, and ‘patch’ a modern piece of wooden pile. There, my very first and personal bookshelf. I love it so much. Everytime I sit next to it, I can feel grand-dad pampering me. Bamboo storages… Gosh! If I have my own house, I love to have couple of them in every single rooms. Don’t ask me why.
Bamboo stick, another nice items to be used for home decorating. And trimmed bamboo bush in the garden. I used to grow bamboo plant with dad and every year before we moved to the shop lot, mum and I decorated lotsa lotsa Red Packets all over the bamboo plant. They look really great!!!

Hmmm.. I am wondering what tv show my mum and dad watching at home at this moment? Are both my grandpas are happy in heaven? What about popo? Did she receive my prayers?
