The Aquarium of Western Australia– AQWA
This is my third visits to AQWA this year. Everytime any visitors come to Perth and it happens that they want Kian and me take them around, we will North all the way to AQWA in Hillary.
I love AQWA compared to The Aquarium of Melbourne. AQWA has more collections, and there are more varieties marine animals.
This is one of Dragon Seahorses kept in AQWA. It is only available in Australia. Physically, it is quite similiar to normal seahorse, except Dragon Seahorse has more fins. Dragon Seahorses are very fragile and sensitive. They are able to detect sound around 600meter in radiation; they are very sensitive to light, therefore bloody tourist like me cannot use flash in my camera.
Oh! This is one of my favorite session in AQWA– Touching marine animals! Yay!!! As you can see here, I am holding two star fishes. The one on my left is bigger and it is harder in texture, meanwhile the one on right hand side is smaller and way softer. Why they are different? Come on, different species mah… simple as that. =) I touched sea cucumer, fishes, and durian-like marine animal… Damn “geli”, yet damn cool!
From left: Todd (AQWA tour guide), Rudy-a new friend of us, Kian
Todd is tour guide of the day. He is cool and friendly. He answered most of the questions I asked. He started as volunter in AQWA, and after few months, he was offered a job. We spent most of the time with Todd. =)
This is Kian and me, before entering to the Shipwreck Coast, typically known as “underwater world”.
TA DAH!! Check that dude out! This is biggest stingray in the world/Asutralia according to Todd. Say HI to this giant stingray. =P
wOw wOw wOw! Another stingray… I am wondering if I am given a chance eat this stingray right, I can either BBQ or grill this dude, and you know what, I can use all sorta flavors such as Curry, Lemon and Pepper, bbq dark sauce, honey mustard??
Hehehe…
Ok, this dude behind is is 25 years old turtle. According to Todd, in term of turtle age, she is only 15 years old. Wow! That’s impressive!
This is Northern Australia crocodile. He is superb active. He has been running up and down thru’out the whole moment when we were standing there. Crocodile has 2 types of eye lids– outer (opaque) and inner (transparent). In outer water surface, it uses outer eyelids, however, as it dives into water, transparent inner eyelids will “roll up” acting as goggle, so that its vision still remain clear in water. How cool is that?
Ah… this is jellyfish. My dad used to tell me “Chinese eats everything”.. Hmm.. I am wondering if Chinese eat jelly fishes as well?? =P
You can look up more infomation of AQWA from their official website http://www.aqwa.com.au By the way, if you come down to Perth, I dont mind making my 4th,5th… trips there. =P
Ok.. I am off to bed now. I am heading to Rottnest Island tomorrow~!
