October 2005

Gay and Lesbian Parade, Perth, Western Australia.

I went to Gay and Lesbian Parade in town. That was not that awesome compared to previous years. The parade finished in 30 minutes time, and I didn’t even get any gift such as flower or condoms or even lollies from the Parade!! Damn! I shouldn’t sit with Felix–it was either Felix freaked the gay people out, or I scared those lesbies ass off(?) Bad luck..

Oh yeah! Don’t get me wrong why I am so desperate to get the condom, in fact, I wanted to see those condoms I packed 2 months ago at WAAC being distributed. Check this out: http://ccfoo.blogspot.com/2005/09/extended-pleasure-sunday.html

The Parade started with a group of people riding in their fancy motorbike. They made lotsa noise, the atmosphere was simply fabulous!Yes! Marching from WAAC staffs and vollies (Western Australia AIDS Council).. Hurray!! I am one of the WAAC vollies, but I am not in the march. However, I will be selling Red Ribbon on AIDS/HIV Day. Hehehe.. don’t forget to come down to town, ok? =)

We decided to change to a better “feng shui” location so that Cynthia Foo can see better. Damn, I hate those people that blocking my view.. this is once-a-year thing, I seriously didn’t want to come all the way to town and see “nothing”! =(

I dragged Felix and Kian Seng, squezzing thru’ the crowd, sitting at the front row. Yes! How comfortable is that! And you know what, I see “something”– A woman kissing a woman!! I only managed to took this picture while they are hugging. People, I am sorry– You have no luck! =)
Jackson refused to come thru’ so he was standing behind. Poor fella…

Oh! This uncle had blue lightning thing one his “blue bird”. He was dancing like no-body-business.. Damn cool!
Aussie blokes turn on the music… they were celebrating as well.
Felix, Victorian Uncle, me and Kian. I can tell the way Felix smile is a bit dodgy ’cause he was hold tightly by “she”.. Wahahahah!!! First time for Felix in Parade.. =)
These two aussie blondes were not part of the Parade, I guess. They were giving out free tickets of some night clubs. But you know la, as they are hot– sexy costume, nice boobies.. Those bloody tourist like me die die wanna take picture with them =)

Ah!! This old man is classic. You don’t see much older generation unlces like this.

This is another character in the Parade. He represents Brazil–supporting Gay and Lesbian Community. I like his big boobies and arses.. Can see! Can not touch! =(
Oh guess what! I met Nadia in the Parade as well! Do not get her wrong, she was just watching and enjoying the atmosphere like me. We have nothing to do G and L ok? Oh yeah, today is her birthday as well. Happy Birthday Nadia!! mwah

Ok, before I finish this entry. I wanna let you know that I am not into Gay and Lesbian thingy, and I have nothing to against them, I don’t involve in any activities to support or againts them. Just treat this entry as part of cultural reading, and I hope you will enjoy a night out as much as I did, will ya? Thank you! =)

TAKA Japanese Cuisine

Any reasons I don’t know why, me and Kian sick of rice, pasta. We don’t feel like eating at fancy restaurant, we don’t feel like cooking at home either. It was a cold evening. We both were craving for warm soupy meal and hot tea.

After walking in the town, we decided to walk down to the small alley in town to have some cheap Japanese meal in Taka.
There are 3 Taka branches in Perth, somehow I just sticking my arse here as I feel really comfortable in this particular branch. This Taka located in Murray Street, Perth. Oh yeah, one lane after King’s Street. It is so hidden from no where. So “Perth”!

We ordered Terriyaki Udon- - a superb big bowl of soup with Japanese noodle with few pieces of chicken, topped with fresh salad. Not too heavy and not too light. Just nice.

I enjoyed the date with Kian. We sat quietly among the crowd, eating big chunk of noodle, and sipping free hot Japanese tea.

Too perfect for a Friday night. =)

Dragon China Authentic Chinese Restaurant, Northbridge

It seems like a routine for me—dinning out at Saturday night.
Oh well, I supposed I can’t do much in town. Clubbing and drinking are too old for me. I am no longer in shaking-arse mood.

I went to Dragon China Authentic Chinese Restaurant in Northbridge with the same friends.

First dish was deep fried honey pepper pork strips. It tasted like pepper and salt pork strips (椒盐猪X) instead. It tasted “strong” enough, which is excellent but I couldn’t “feel” much for the meat texture; it was a small disappointment for a meat-lover like me. (5/10)

Pork Strips.

Chinese stir fried vegetable with 3 variety of eggs (century egg, salted egg and er, I have no idea) =) I am not a vege person especially when I dine out. I prefer have all the meat if I could. I know this sounds very unhealthy but to be honest, I have a big giant serve of vege and 99.9% I cook chicken at home. Therefore, when I eat out, I don’t mind eating anything, but no chicken and no green stuffs. I know, very typical. (X/10)

Chinese Vege Stri Fried

Deep fried king prawn battered with slated egg yolk. Ah.. this one is a bit alright. But the portion was a bit small. (5.5/10)

The Prawn

卤水鸭, I am not so sure what they call in English, I think is braised duck? Oh well, it tasted very normal, I believe the chef could have done better than this. This dish also served with a source. I am not sure how does it taste like as I don’t usually use any additional flavoring, I prefer original. =) (6/10)

The Duck

Last dish, salted fish and chicken sizzling tou fu 咸鱼鸡粒日本豆腐 . As you can see here, I took the picture when the hot plate was sizzling and smoking hot. Ah, don’t worry, this is not a fancy dish at all. Taste-less. Worst salted fish and chicken sizzling tou fu I have ever tried in Perth before. Stupid me. Damn, shouldn’t take the inexperience waitress’s recommendation. (-1/10)

Tou Fu

This is the first time I go to that restaurant; sadly this will be my last visit as well. I am not sure it was purely due to my “half-blocked and half-runny” nose that weakens my taste buds or the dishes weren’t just too tasty. Or else, I am just being extremely fussy. I hope so.

Generally, don’t go to this restaurant unless you have no where to go in Northbridge. If you die die (stubbornly) want to eat rice, I think you better go KFC or Mcdonald, burger and chips is definitely better choice at that time.

Trust me, I know.

Dragon Seafood Restaurant, Northbridge

I went dinner at Dragon Seafood Restaurant with my friends, Grace, KC, Faadzel, Kon Vui and Kian Seng.
It was a steamboat dinner. Pay twenty six bucks per head, and it was the eat-all-you-want thingy we had. I am not a big fan of buffet because I don’t normally get what I want. Apparently this buffet did really satisfy my entire requirement(s).

My friends ordered 2 types of soup bases: clear soup and Sze Chuan hot and spicy soup.
Oh dear, I can’t take the spiciness of the Sze Chuan soup at all; I could feel my ears are burning!

We took whatever we like..

I had a lot of prawns, salmon, scallop, fish fillet, squid and a little bit of other ingredients (mushroom, tou fu, fishballs). None of us ate rice nor noodle, or anything carbohydrate stuffs. It was a plan seafood dinner.

Prawn and squid

Scallops..Lotsa lotsa scallops

Salmon…

Tofu, lotsa salmon hidding behind the mushromms.. =)

I had few “laps” of these …especially prawns. Walking in and out, keep refilling our seafood. Very busy indeed =P

The desserts were fabulous. We had few slices of cakes—balck forrest, vanilla almond, cappuccino flavored; oh yeah! We had red bean soup and “tau fu hua” (soya bean jelly)
We left the table in a big big mess, yet went home with happy tummies!
Phew~ so fulled o_O

Flower Luck at Pasar Malam

Another highlight of the Pasar Malam is Lion Dance! Yay! I like Lion Dance! I like to see those “lions” jumping up and down. Somewhat the most exciting moment for me is when those guys finishing their lion dancing, all I want to see if the best lion dancer is a cute guy. Oh! I can feel my heart is melted.
I managed to hook up with… NO NO NO!! It is actually the other way around! There was a cute looking lion dancer, Denny hooked up with me. *cough cough* I am impressed. I don’t know I am that cute.It is a bit unbelievable.

See! We managed to take a photo together-gether…. All the sudden, I feel like I have a pair of wings… fly! Look at him, he can do all these kung fu thing… Oh my God, he is so cute!
Kian Seng even managed to took a picture of Denny sitting/squading behind the lions.
Actually, Denny is my FRIEND la!!! Wahahahah!! We know each other for years already! Denny is one of the top guys in his lion dancing team. Obvisouly he knows how to do all the stunts, otherwise… (no comment)

The feeling of making me feel “hiao” and making your saliva drips all over everywhere—only one word can describe: SHIOK!

You really think I have flower luck (桃花运)huh?
Haha!! Got ya!

Oh yeah, I like to mention about these 3 kungfu kids. They are so cute! I screamed so loud, just like how those crazy fans scream for their idol! The chubby kungfu kid who stood in the middle was very very adorable. I felt like “cubit” him so badly!

The Hog’s Breath Café, Northbridge

THE PLACE

This is my favorite steak place in town. I’ve been “steak-ing” out in Perth, but Hog’s is still the best (so far)!

I love Hog’s food and the very funky environment. It is very Texas (?), very rugged, yet very funny. This is part of the Café, you can judge it yourself. =)

When I mean funny, I refer to the toilet signs. Previously, they only show the words “sows” and “boars”; the words of Men and Ladies were not used until recently. I guess there must be some people walk into the wrong place. =P

THE MENU
Everyone ordered an individual main course. Oh well, this is not Chinese restaurant, we don’t share food. Oh well, I am (actually) a bit selfish to share my piece of steak. =)

We ordered 2 appetizers—Bruschetta and Crumbed Camemert. They were very yummie. Sometimes you might be thinking is not worth it to pay bloody ten bucks for bread and tomato, but in this case, I can assure you the money is worth more than any sensational flavor you can find to satisfy your taste butts.

This is Crumbed Camemert- crunchy potato skin stuffed with lightly fried bacon topped with mayo, cream and melted cheese.
Me, Kuan Vui and Jackson ordered the special of the day– Reef Ranger Prime Rib with Calamari Rings. I was told by a friend of mine we are not supposed to mix seafood and land-food in a course; however, I can assure you this combination is absolutely fabulous!
KC and Grace had chicken. I did not know they don’t eat beef. Strangely enough when I told them we were going for steak dinner, they just happily come with everybody, but never mention they are beef-free mammals. =)
Kian Seng ordered El Grande Prime Rib. He loves the creamy salsa cheese sauce topping, I guess. I have seen him eating this flavor for years since we went to Hog’s.
I bet your saliva is dripping like spring water or Taiping waterfall or perhaps balai bomba tap water by now. I bet you must be thinking we are a bunch of crazy people who over-love our food. I bet you must me thinking we are psycho oversea students who spend dad’s money like no body business which in fact we are NOT. I bet you must be guessing why I am suddenly become so weird? =)

However, however, however, I bet you never thought why we all suddenly have itchy back go for steak dinner and why we still come out for succulent steak 2 days before the big test. WHY?

Because…. Today is actually Kian Seng’s birthday =)

Happy Birthday, ney!
